TO REPORT AN EMERGENCY DIAL 9-1-1
WELCOME TO THE
MURFREESBORO VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
Hands Only CPR
CPR is one of the most effective ways to treat someone having a possible cardiac arrest. In order to properly administer CPR, follow these steps:
-
Call 9-1-1, or have someone call for you. The 9-1-1 dispatcher can also assist you with care if needed.
-
Place the heel of one hand on the center of the person’s chest, with the other hand on top.
-
Push down hard and fast aiming for a rate of 100 to 120 compressions per minute.
-
If you feel tired, switch off with someone else if available.
-
Continue compressions until emergency services arrive.
-
Hands-Only CPR can double or even triple the chances of survival for someone in cardiac arrest.
With these tips, you can properly administer Hands-Only CPR when needed.
